PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Water is essential to life and plays a vital role in regulating our climate. The relationship between climate and water have always been intertwined. As the foundation for life, water is vital for sanitation, human rights, urbanization, sustainability and economic growth.
The project aims to foster collaboration and environmental awareness among high school students in Aosta Valley, Italy, and Montbui, Spain and Lycée Fauré Annecy. Through shared experiences and focused activities, students will explore the significance of water in their local ecosystems and develop a cross-cultural understanding of water-related challenges.
Learning objectives:
- Make students aware of the importance of water and its role in the past, present and future both locally and globally.

- Learn about the value of clean water

- Historical aspect of water management.

Aims
- For teaching and learning to be increasingly involved with international cultures in order to enhance globalized learning
- Exchanges of good practices and development of innovative outputs with the aim of raising environmental awareness and facing climate change challenges and sustainable development.
- Reduce barriers to learning with the implementation of new methods and innovations and by promoting values of inclusion and diversity, tolerance, and democratic participation.
- Engage learners and educators in the path to digital transformation by promoting the use of new technologies and innovative teaching methods while being conscious and responsible in their use.
Development of sustainable citizenship skills will allow for the integration of knowledge in curricular subjects, in particular in STEM topics. We aim to become familiar with all goals of Agenda 2030, in particular Aims 6, 7, 11, 12, and 13. Educating about environmental safeguarding and the promotion of conscious and coherent lifestyles will be priorities with the idea of sustainability in accordance with the 2030 Agenda. Working with stakeholders and offering first-hand experience to our pupils will allow them to appreciate and interact with their immediate environment.
Work process
The schools would like to do field trips together both in Italy and Spain. After discussing some possible topics, we find that water and how humans use the water could be a good connection between both regions. From there, activities are planned based on water resources and water uses in both areas.
The first mobility will be in April 2024 when the Italian students will fly to Spain and stay for 6 nights. The second exchange is planned for May 5th until 11th of 2024 when 14 students and 2 teachers will visit Aosta Valley. The third mobility students from Liceo Linguistico Courmayeur will travel by bus to Annecy and stay from the 27th May until the 31st May 2024. The field trips will include observations of local territory, visits to local organizations, and interviews and explanations of professionals and experts in this field. This exchange will involve approximately 32 Italians and 16 Spanish students and 16 French students. During the field trips students will explore the significance of water in their local ecosystems and develop a cross-cultural understanding of water-related challenges. Continued project work will be planned with both students and teachers to review and further investigate findings. Work will be shared on twinspace by both students and teachers.
Expected results
- Both teachers and students will make international connections and share and exchange cultures in order to enhance globalized learning
- Good practices and development of innovative outputs will be exchanged with the aim of raising environmental awareness and facing climate change challenges and sustainable development.
- Students will have an increased interest in topics related to the significance of water in their local ecosystems and develop a cross-cultural understanding of water-related challenges. For example: Shared materials related to water and to illustrate the current situation that can then be used within the school curriculum. The creation of twispace ESEP will allow us to share and log student research and fieldwork trips.
- New methods and innovations will be implemented to reduce barriers to learning by promoting values of inclusion and diversity, tolerance, and democratic participation.
- Both learners and educators will be engaged in the path to digital transformation by promoting the use of new technologies and innovative teaching methods while being conscious and responsible in their use. For example: To log results the use of applications will be integrated into lessons – GIS – map reading, identification of geological features, Wikiloc – recording local field trips with notes.
- Shared STEM subjects CLIL materials created for the project will be used in the school curriculums.
- There will be publicity and dissemination work related to the project.
- Strengthened cross-cultural connections and understanding.
- Increased community involvement in water conservation efforts.
- Creation of a network for future collaborative projects.
